MccArtney famously said you cant reheat a soufle - I’m inclined to agree with him and if there was ever a case in point it was when REM reformed recently. Bill Berry just looked like he wanted to be somewhere else. Saying all that, I LOVE REM (up to this album) and really I tested the durability of the CD as I played this to death

Pink Flag (1977)3:59REM Dead Letter Office has some amazing covers - Velvet Underground and the like but they covered this track on R.E.M.’s version of the song stays fairly true to the original but features some slight lyrical changes and adopts the jangly, alternative rock style that defined their sound during that era ? But Wire were so influential (or rather this album was) so I wanted to play the original instead.
