About the Album#
Propaganda catches Sparks at full creative velocity. Arriving only months after Kimono My House, it turns Ron Mael’s tightly wound songs and Russell Mael’s theatrical vocals into a brisk sequence of glam-rock drama, barbed pop hooks and sudden shifts in mood.
The miniature title track snaps directly into “At Home, At Work, At Play”, setting the album’s restless pace. Across the record, producer Muff Winwood keeps the arrangements sharp enough for the Mael brothers’ wit to land without losing the music’s exuberance.
This page documents the original 11 November 1974 UK Island LP, catalogue ILPS 9312, with the A-1U/B-1U STERLING cut. Its measured track timings are kept separate from the existing Show #1 Track Guide values, whose broadcast source and mastering are not recorded.
