The Early Years 1967–1972: Cre/ation matters because it distils Pink Floyd’s formative years into a focused two-disc survey, moving from Syd Barrett’s vivid psychedelic singles towards the broader, more exploratory sound that followed. Rather than acting as a generic best-of, it maps a period of rapid change across the band’s first seven years on record.

For Show #1, “See Emily Play” is the clear way in: a bright, strange, instantly memorable early single that still captures the sense of adventure running through the wider compilation. From there, Cre/ation opens out into BBC sessions, live performances, soundtrack fragments and later remixes that give this edition its own identity within Pink Floyd’s catalogue.
