Queen of Denmark is the record that reintroduced John Grant as a solo artist with startling clarity. Backed by Midlake’s warm, unfussy musicianship and anchored by Grant’s dry wit, the album turns heartbreak, self-reckoning and black humour into songs that feel intimate without ever becoming small.
