About Simple Minds

Simple Minds are a Scottish band built around Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill. Their early records moved rapidly through art rock, electronic experimentation and post-punk, with Empires and Dance, Sons and Fascination and New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84) tracing an increasingly expansive sound.

Songs including “Love Song”, “Promised You a Miracle”, “Waterfront” and “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” carried that atmosphere into larger spaces. Even at their most anthemic, the band’s best work retains the rhythmic curiosity and sense of motion established in Glasgow’s late-1970s scene.
