About Gaye Bykers On Acid

Gaye Bykers On Acid formed in Leicester in the mid-1980s and became closely associated with the grebo scene, mixing punk and psychedelic rock with samples, dance rhythms and a deliberately unruly visual identity. Early releases including Everythang’s Groovy and the Nosedive EP established their taste for collision rather than stylistic purity.

Across Drill Your Own Hole, Stewed to the Gills, Cancer Planet Mission and Pernicious Nonsense, the band moved between noisy alternative rock, electronics and harder-edged material while retaining a mischievous punk sensibility. Their use of alter egos such as Rektüm and Lesbian Dopeheads on Mopeds extended the same irreverence beyond the records themselves.
