The original lineup — Steve Fellows (vocals, guitar), Andy Peake (keyboards), Mik Glaisher (drums), and Kevin Bacon (bass) — signed to Polydor Records and released their debut album Waiting for a Miracle in 1980. Their subsequent albums Sleep No More (1981) and Fiction (1982) are considered landmarks of the post-punk genre. Bass duties later passed to Terry Todd, who appeared on several of the band’s later recordings.
After shortening their name from “The Comsat Angels” to “Comsat Angels” in the late 1980s, the band continued to record and tour throughout the early 1990s. They released My Mind’s Eye in 1992 before disbanding in 1995. The original lineup later reunited for a one-off performance at the Sensoria Festival in Sheffield in 2009.
